As the concepts around sustainability are becoming better understood, the landscape is playing a huge role in providing ecological services that will make our daily lives more sustainable and healthy. As more of these ecological service are realized, more expectations will be put onto the land. These services are very complex - from healthy soil with properly balanced biology, which increases water holding capacity, maximizes carbon sequestration, and supports healthier plant growth to new power sources that use the land to enhance the effectiveness of sun, wind and water to rethinking our infrastructure requirements and land use patterns.
